BURLESQUE & CABARET DANCER

About Nova
Queen Nova grew up in Medicine Hat, Alberta, a city where the glitz and glamour of show business lived only on TV or online. With few stages that celebrated showgirl artistry, she could only imagine what it might be like to step into the spotlight herself. She always said she wanted to be Britney Spears when she grew up. Burlesque feels close enough.

From a 13, Nova was drawn to movement and storytelling. Ballet and musical theatre were her first loves, giving her an early foundation in technique, presence, and stagecraft. Performing in her forst corset during a high school production of Guys and Dolls, something sparked within her. But it wasn’t until adulthood that she truly reconnected with performance—through the world of pole dance. Training under world class showgirl Rosie Skies (now in Australia), Nova quickly proved her dedication and natural flair for the stage. Just six months after her first pole class, she competed at PSO Canada East in Toronto (October 2022), taking home first place in Exotic Pole Level 2.

At the same time, Nova was carving out a career as a stripper, where she discovered the power of merging sensuality, athleticism, and storytelling. Within eight months of stepping into the club, she expanded her artistry to the world of burlesque. Her official burlesque debut came in January 2023 with The Cabaret Company in Calgary—an entrance that marked the start of a new chapter in her creative journey.

Since then, Queen Nova has been a rising star on stages across Alberta and beyond. She has performed with Burlesque Burn, Twisted Element, Mount Royal University, The Cabaret Company, and at a wide range of private and corporate events. Each performance showcases not only her athleticism and charisma but also her craftsmanship—Nova creates her own costumes, making every act uniquely hers from concept to execution.

What sets Nova apart is her ability to bridge past and present. She brings a modern twist to classic burlesque, pairing today’s music and pop culture with old-school silhouettes, glamour, and choreography. Her acts are bold, cheeky, and unapologetically sensual—an intoxicating mix of splits, tricks, and tits that never fails to bring audiences to their feet (or, knees).

Above all, Nova performs to connect. Whether she’s teasing with a slow strip, stunning with gravity-defying pole tricks, or dazzling with rhinestone sparkle, she invites audiences into her world—one where sexuality is celebrated, artistry is limitless, and every performance leaves an impression long after the curtain falls.

Burlesque is deeply rooted in sex work, and Queen Nova proudly honors that legacy. The art form has always existed at the intersection of sensuality, satire, and empowerment—shaped and sustained by strippers, showgirls, and other sex workers who blurred the line between entertainment and erotic expression. Nova carries that lineage forward with gratitude, recognizing that her work on stage today is possible because of the creativity, resilience, and artistry of those who came before.
